The PADI Divemaster course is the first in a series of professional-level certifications. This course is designed to dramatically improve participants' knowledge of diving to include working with new diving students, dive management and control, leading underwater tours, and assisting instructors with teaching. After completing this course, new Divemasters will receive a PADI professional membership and be eligible for many benefits.
Course Overview
The Divemaster program consists of a series of reading materials, practical teaching experiences under the supervision of an instructor, demonstration of advanced swimming and dive skills, and several other assignments such as underwater map-making and a series of PADI tests. The average Divemaster requires about one year to complete the course, however this period changes depending on the student's and instructor's schedules.
Course Fee
The PADI Divemaster course costs $375 plus a $75 deposit (refundable after you have completed two cycles of assisting with OW, AOW & Rescue classes). There are no additional fees for equipment rentals or air used while working with classes.

Equipment
Hoofers SCUBA club provides all tanks and equipment (wetsuit, regulator, BCD, mask, fins, snorkel, weights and weight belts) as part of the class. You are welcome to bring any or all of your own equipment if you prefer.
You will need your dive log book. You'll also need your own bottom timer (a watch that's water resistant to 100 meters or better, or a dive computer). They typically cost $25 and up.
Prerequisites
Course participants must:
1. Be certified Rescue Divers with at least 60 independent logged dives.
